The Ritz Carlton, Amelia Island, Florida, will be the site our our October 2008 meetings. Information about the hotel can be found at www.ritzcarlton.com. 

Situated along 13 miles of pristine, picturesque Atlantic coastline, Amelia Island is the southernmost of the Sea Islands, a chain of barrier islands along the eastern U.S. seaboard.

Amelia Island’s Fernandina Beach was once a vibrant Victorian village by the sea. Amelia Island also owns the unique distinction of being the only U.S. city to have once been under the domain of eight different nations, and is still known as the Isle of 8 Flags.

Today, Amelia Island is a seaside retreat for nature lovers and those who thrive on an abundance of sun, sand and outdoor sports. Visitors will also encounter a wealth of fine dining, and a variety of interesting shops and museums to browse as they stroll the cobblestone streets of Fernandina Beach’s charming historic district.

The Ritz Carlton, 4750 Amelia Island Parkway, Amelia Island, FL 32034, is approximately 28 miles (40 minutes) from the Jacksonville, FL airport.

Reservations must be made by September 4, 2008 to receive the Bank CEO Network rate of $225 per night. 

Transportation Options from and to Jacksonville Airport and the Ritz Carlton

If you plan to explore Amelia Island or the surrounding area, you will probably need a rental car, although tours may be available through the hotel. This may be a fairly economical option. However, parking at the hotel is $17 per night. 

The Ritz Carlton recommends Dana’s Limousine Service. They can be contacted at 800-456-5466. The current rate for a trip from Jacksonville airport to the Ritz Carlton is $121.25 including a fuel surcharge and gratuity. 

Southern Comfort Transportation is a more economical option. They will transport up to 3 people from the Jacksonville airport to the Ritz Carlton for $45 to $55. They can be contacted at 904-535-3202 or on the web at www.southerncomforttransportation.com.
